It all began on August 29th 2008. It was Ian’s birthday and he wanted to have an amazing day. We played tennis at sunrise, he gave blood and more. About a week before we agreed that we would give 10 percent of our income away every week. Not to one particular organization or person, but to the greater good – whatever that happened to be at the time. With Ian being Ian, he wanted to do it in a big way that would not only strengthen our commitment, but let people in our area hear what we want to do – we went on the WBSM 1420 Ken Pittman show. This video was put together to show everyone all the fun we had on August 29th 2008 – it also shows the birth of Share10Percent.org.
Skip to about 4:22 if you just want to see how we gave away our first 10%.
After that we felt AMAZING, the family had $100 for gas to get to Boston (or food). After dinner we said “Wouldn’t it be awesome if people all over the world did this?”. We knew we had to let the world know about our new weekly commitment and tell people how they can do the same.
A little over a week later, we put together the Share10Percent.org site.
Thank you to Ken Pittman for letting us come on the radio show that day.
